Sling and lift plan refresher after Bay 1 near miss
A guard panel slipped from its sling in Bay 1 last week. Nobody was hurt, but it could have been a serious injury. All crane and dogging operators at Dandenong South will attend a sling angle and flat load refresher in the crib room at 6:45 am on Wednesday 16 September. Flat panels must be lifted with a spreader or lifting clamps until further notice.

Welder re-verification tests, October
Several welder qualifications on WPS-03 flux cored and WPS-01 manual metal arc expire in October. The Quality and Safety Manager will run re-verification test plates on 6 and 7 October in Bay 2. Check your expiry date in the training matrix and book a slot with your supervisor. Welders with expired qualifications cannot be allocated code work.

Mount Errol shutdown crew confirmed
The crew for the Mount Errol primary crusher and conveyor shutdown, 13 to 16 October, is confirmed and posted in the Gladstone crib room. Everyone on the list must have a current Mount Errol induction, isolation training and, for the walkway crew, working at heights. Fix any gaps in the training matrix with Bree by 25 September or you will be replaced on the roster.

Horizontal borer out of service
The horizontal boring machine at Wodonga is tagged out with a coolant tray leak until the seal is replaced. Do not remove the tag or attempt to run the machine. Jobs planned for the borer will be rescheduled by Tan and the Engineering Office. Please report any other coolant leaks on the pre-start checklist so we can fix them before someone slips.

Apprentice trade night and end of year barbecue
The apprentice trade night is on Thursday 26 November at 5:00 pm in Bay 1, where third and fourth year apprentices will show their trade test pieces to families and customers. The end of year barbecue follows at Dandenong South on Friday 11 December from 12:30 pm. Both events are alcohol free during working hours in line with the fitness for work policy.
